RARE early photogravures (circa 1880) by the famous French photographer Bonfils (1831-1885), of Palestine. The individual photos , 4 1/2 " by 6 1/2 ", are mounted on heavy gray card stock , a few of which are chipped. The photos are bright and clear, no foxing or stains. Enclosed in a cloth box with Palestinian woman and palm tree on the front, and bright title , Palestine, in gilt. The sides of the box were flimsy and had deteriroated, so the box was rebuilt with heavy cloth sides to protect the plates. Only two other sets on the internet at this writing, all 30 for $1962. and set of only 20 photos for $750. Each photo is captioned on the grey card.
